What is Internship?
4 weeks that could change your life! It is a professional immersion experience that embeds 11th grade interns into organizations working in fields of interest. Interns find and secure their own placements and learn how to foster successful professional relationships.
Mission: High Tech High's Internship program aims to foster personal growth and help students acquire workplace skills in a real-world environment. The experience is invaluable for students as they prepare for life after high school and the program offers local organizations a well-supported intern.
Program Requirements:
All High Tech High juniors complete a 4-week internship (30-40 hours per week) with a local business or organization.
All interns develop (a) substantial project(s) with the mentor that contributes to or benefits the organization.
Internship is supplemented by an "Internship class" in the preceding months to prepare students for the experience and connect them with "best fit" mentors.
Each student is supported by a workplace mentor.
Mentors communicate regularly with HTH about student progress.
Near the end of Internship, each intern presents their work and overall learning to a panel of mentors and other site employees.
Completing Internship is a High Tech High graduation requirement
